Attributes: Read only?? Its in your picture. I would think that is what he is trying to change.Maybe because your permissions are fine, it works for you (us)He hasn't responded yet so don't know what his actual problem isRight.I see that it specifically says: 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)'However.that actually does not mean what it says, because the actual files in that folder are fully editable. If 'every folder' in Windows 10 were 'Read-only', the OS would not work.Now.if this were some folder the OS created, it probably should not be messed with. For a reason. If you have a user whose permissions are wrong, then you can't save files into that folder as it says you don't have the right access to do it.

So while a user with right permissions can do anything in most folders, the other person finds themselves locked out of basic folders like My Documents. I have messed up folders on my PC from that very thing happening last year. So I been through this before. It wouldn't let Steam work as i didn't have access to My Documents.I could create files but I couldn't save changes to them - that gets confusing when you have homework on PC and can't save any changes. I just used a USB drive for a few weeks as it didn't seem to apply to it.It seemed tied to Onedrive as it had more access to my own PC than I did, but fix was to make a Homegroup. I don't know why, but it worked.

Hi,I met this issue before. Hi,I met this issue before. Hi Jennifer,It is now July 2011 and I wonder if the problem has been resolved? Turning off automatic saves is a solution but a potentially a very expensive one! The problem is recurring (apparently randomly but often) in pretty much any Word document thatI work on for a while.

Mar 15, 2019 PyCharm was unable to save some project files, are you sure you want to close this project anyway? Obviously, i checked read-only status in Windows explorer and forced all files to read/write access. But that doesn't solve the issue. Also i can edit the files with other text editors and save them just fine. Most files are under revision control.
Nothing seem to cure it. Once a file got this disease, it cannot be cured (that is every time you save it must be to a different name:( ).FYI, I open files on my harddrive, use Office 2010 professional, and use both doc and docx formats depending on the origin of the file. It makes no difference. All are susceptable and many fall ill.Cheers,Giorgio. I started to have this problem a few weeks ago and I could not remember what changes were made to my workstation.I am running Word 2010 Pro (product activated) on Windows 7.When a file was just opened, 'Read Only' did not appear at the top of the Word window.
After several minutes, when I clicked 'Save' icon, the 'Save As' dialog screen appeared and I had to save to the file with a different name. If I cancelled the dialogbox, then the text 'Read Only' appeared at the top of the window.I already disabled the auto-save but the problem perisisted. It happened to both doc and docx files.Seaport. Well it is April 2012 and i am having this problem. I found the fix to Word 2010 giving the error message 'Read-Only' when saving a Word file. For me, after I copied folders to an external hard drive (destination) that contained both Word 2010 and Word 1997-2003 documents, I opened some of theWord files from the destimation source.

The only files which I opened that gave me the read-only error when I tried to save the file were the Word 1997-2003 documents. None of the Word 2010 files opened resulted in the Read-Only error message whenI saved the files. So, a work around for the Read-Only error (but still wishing Microsoft would step up and just fix the problem): Open the Word 1997-2003 file, and save it as a Word 2012 file with a new name. Technically, you don't need to use a new file name,as the extension will be different, but it reduces confusion.
